Meet Our Director
Cathy Woodburn Bethel made Muhlenberg County her home over 30 years ago. Her son was born and raised here. Ms. Bethel became the Muhlenberg County Health Department Director in September 2017 succeeding Rebecca Hinrichs Keith. Together, Ms. Bethel and Ms. Keith are looking forward to continuing to serve the citizens of Muhlenberg County. Previously, Ms. Bethel has served as a staff nurse, educator, and Practice Manager for Owensboro Health Urology. She graduated with an associate’s degree in nursing from Madisonville Community College, a bachelor’s from Murray State University where she majored in Nursing. Ms. Bethel later achieved a Master of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing and a Master of Business Administration from DeVry University Keller Graduate School of Management. Her favorite hobbies include walking, jogging, hiking trails and kayaking.
Meet Our Nurse Practitioner
Rebecca Hinrichs Keith has enjoyed the privilege of providing services for the Muhlenberg County Health Department since 1991 and was also the first Nurse Practitioner in Muhlenberg County. She and her husband, Dr. Willard Keith, made this beautiful place their home in 1977 and all three of their children were born and raised here. Raised primarily in St. Louis, MO, she earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Valparaiso University in 1971 and Master’s degree in nursing at Vanderbilt University in 1990. She also completed Family Nurse Practitioners certification at Vanderbilt University and Colposcopy certification at Emory University. Ms. Keith is proud that she was able to participate in developing the Muhlenberg County Rails-To-Trails which continues to play an important part in the health maintenance of the citizens of Muhlenberg County. Her favorite hobbies include cycling the trail and flying. She also serves on the Muhlenberg County Airport Board.
