Muhlenberg County Health Department Food Safety Classes
Dates for the mandatory food safety classes are listed below. Under Chapter 2-102.11 of the 2005 FDA Food Code, every food worker/manager must be trained in food safety. You may contact our office Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to sign up your employees who are food workers/managers. Unless otherwise notified, all classes will take place at the Muhlenberg County Annex Community Building , 201 Lawton (Locust)Way, Central City. It is located behind the Post Office.
If you have an employee who has not taken the food safety course with the health department or received a waiver through our office for a similar course, the employer must contact our office within ten days after employment starts. The course must be taken within ninety days after the employment starts. The fee for the food course is $10.00. We only offer the manager course for everyone. The fee can be paid in advance or brought to the class. Failure to abide by the 2005 FDA Food Code requirement will result in legal action in accordance with Kentucky Revised Statute 217.992 against the permitted facility. A wavier is available for those employees who can show proof of training whether at their facility or another food safety course, (ex. SafeServe). Certification is good for three years.
