Cooking Matters

Muhlenberg County Health Department partners with the national nonprofit Share Our Strength to offer Cooking Matters® in Muhlenberg County.  Cooking Matters teaches families at risk of hunger how to get more food for their money and better nourishment from those foods.  Our staff, in collaboration with Owensboro Health, Muhlenberg Community Hospital and the UK Cooperative Extension office provide our combined culinary and nutrition expertise during our six-week cooking and nutrition courses.  We also offer hour-long Shopping Matters® grocery store tours.  During the tour, participants learn how to select nutritious and low-cost ingredients and prepare them in delicious and healthy ways. Cooking Matters is nationally sponsored by both ConAgra Foods® Foundation and Walmart.  Funding for this program is provided by Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital and the Felix Martin Foundation.  https://cookingmatters.org/
