Fit Happens!

Regular exercise can be a struggle. Between work, children, and everyday obligations it can be hard to find time for exercise. For those of us who find time, we sometimes lack the extra funds to purchase a gym membership or exercise equipment. Our goal with FIT Happens is to eliminate obstacles to exercising. We will be posting monthly tips on squeezing exercise in to your daily routine in a budget friendly manner. Additionally, we will be discussing the various health benefits that come from regular exercise. Follow the Muhlenberg County Health Department page for monthly advice on how to get fit.

Fit Happens

You don’t need fancy equipment to exercise; all you need is your own body! Here are a few examples of how to workout without weights!

5 minutes of Cardio to warm up your muscles

  • Jumping Jacks (30seconds)
  • High knees (30 seconds)
  • Arm circles (30 seconds)
    *Repeat once

Bodyweight exercises

  • Squats
  • Push-ups
  • Walking lunges
  • Bicycles
  • Plank
  • Sit-ups
  • Leg Lifts
  • Burpees
  • Calf raises
  • Inchworm
  • Mountain climber
  • Wall sit
  • Side plank

*How many repetitions you do depends on your level of fitness
